Career Accomplishments: At the end of 2015, the 2nd book in Dr. Ashley’s children’s book series appeared in English, "Big Bully Holly Howler" and in English/Spanish, "La Gran Abusiva Holly Howler." March 9, 2016 was the first date of her 2016 National Book Tour: "Empowering Children and Adults with Anti-Bullying Strategies," in the form of educational and entertaining programs about bullying and anti-bullying strategies in schools, libraries and other community organizations. She recently created a new web site: www.drelanaashley.com. The 2016 Kick-Off Program at St. Norbert School in Northbrook for children in preschool through 2nd grade classes was great. The program review of Ann Furby, Cultural Arts, St. Norbert Home and School Association included the following statement: "I would like to thank you for your wonderful presentation of "Big Bully Holly Howler." The children loved the story and your puppets! The message of what constitutes a bully and the important concept that in order to make a friend, you need to be a friend were well presented. Ellie the Elephant, Drake and Octavian helped reinforce the positive messages about friendship in a way that was easy for the children to understand. Ellie's poem was a great way to end the show. Without reservation, I would recommend your show for children." In the words of Book Reviewer Harvey Barrett, "...the inclusion of a Spanish translation side by side with the English...The use of puppets/animals as characters in real life photographic settings...the only way to make a friend is to be a friend...The use of questions for discussion...her poem at the book's conclusion... Dr. Ashley’s multiple novel approaches to her story all come together to make her work a must read for children, parents and others interested in eradicating bullying as a social issue." Dr. Ashley’s future goals include writing and publishing the 3rd story in the children’s adventure series "Splunkunio Splunkey Detective and Peacemaker." She wants to continue offering bullying prevention programs for children and adults, and presenting dramatic, universal and spiritual programs for adults and seniors.
